About Us

Welcome to 1st Earls Colne Scout Group. We are an active Scout Group based in the heart of the Colne Valley in North Essex, in the scouting district of Colchester North. We have been established since 1919 and have around 80 boys and girls in three sections Beavers (age 6 – 8), Cubs (age 8 – 10.5) and Scouts (age 10.5 – 14) which is supported by a number of adult leaders, an effective Board of Trustees (Executive Committee) and the Group Scout Leader.

We are fortunate to have support from the local community and the have our own scout hut situated on 2.2 acres of land managed by the Ashwell’s Amenity and Pleasure Ground trust, who were set up to manage land left in trust by the Hunt Family for recreational and leisure purposes for the village of Earls Colne.

The Group is currently made up of one Beaver Colony, one Cub Pack, and one Scout Troop, we meet on Friday Evenings to take part in exciting, challenging, and stimulating activities. Every young person in Scouting enjoys a balanced range of activities, events and experiences, based around subject areas we call Programme Zones. These cover a huge range of activities, from outdoor and physical pursuits to community involvement, creative expression and learning about the wider world.
